Exclamation First two Gen. V Pokemon revealed and confirmed

Serebii is reporting the revelation of two Gen. V Pokemon. The first is the silhouette we saw earlier; known as the Monster Fox Pokemon, its name is Zoroark. Its pre-evolution (keep in mind that this means it probably isn't a legendary and could be similar to Lucario/Riolu), known as the Evil Fox Pokemon, is named Zorua. Both are Dark-type Pokemon.

These turned out way better looking than I expected them to be...

I'll definitely be using this guy on my team in Gen 5!

Hm... I hope those English names aren't already finalized. 'Zoroark' has a disappointingly uninspired and awkward ring to me. Of course, it's pretty early to say for sure... and even if the names don't change, I'm sure I'll get used to the sound.

As for the design, I guess they're OK-- the base form, Zorua, is fairly cute. The evolved form, Zoroark, is cool but in a very generic-feeling way to me. Like they took a Lucario and modified it to make it "totally awesome!" by giving it the Dark type, 80s hair and a 'cool' smirk.

Overall I guess I'll judge when I see its stats, abilities and move pool.

Although-- I know this is very unlikely-- it would be pretty cool if these Pokemon were dual-type! A Dark/Fighting or Dark/Fire mixture would be much more exciting than a plain Dark type. And I kind of get a Fire vibe from the flame-like fur patterns.

I personally thought that Zoroark looked more like a dark/fighting pokemon...

Yeah, its stances also kinda suggest Fighting type. It's all speculation anyway. It'll most likely be just a plain Dark type. I suspect they (Coro Coro) would have said so already if it were a dual-type. But I guess one can hope!

I agree about the dual-type wish...Dark/Fire would be awfully cool. Considering the color scheme used, I'm hoping it will at least get some good Fire-type moves.

Zoroark is a combination of Zorro and Dark, I believe. I'm kind of neutral toward them.

Reminds me of Knuckles from Sonic&Knuckles. Meh. Not really a fan. Not very original, and too... I dunno, not very pokemon-eqsue. Way over the top. Well the pre-evo is bettert I guess.

Being the first released, that usually means this is one of the "coolest" new ones, right? If that's the case, I'm kind of dreading seeing the "less cool" new ones, haha.

Also, we already have dark/fire. I'd rather they throw some unique dual-types together than rehash one that already exists, even if it's not very common.

Ignore the friend code on Phanpy's head. That's the old DS.

Yeah, I realized that-- it just doesn't have a smooth sound to me. 'Zorrark' would have been a nicer portmanteau, in my opinion.
