IV Battles are battles in which 2 people bring freshly hatched pokemon into the battle, record their stats on the first round (later to be calculated for their IVs) and then Run. This way you may obtain the IVs for your pokemon a lot faster and without the use of rare candies.

I recommend you look at the first post of a thread next time, because that's where all the information usually lies....

Why do you need to battle for this? Can't you just pull up their stats on the summary page?

We do this to get the IVs of certain Pokemon.. The higher the level of the pokemon, the more accurate your outputed IVs are when plugged into an IV calculator. You could rare candy a Pokemon to a high level and record the stats, but IV battling is a lot faster.

You don't have to actually Battle, you just start, record the stats, and run. In addition, IV Battling is a lot faster than rare candying.

You are still losing me here. If you do a wi-fi battle no one gains EXP.

Rare candying can be done quick (just don't save).

I think we are just not connecting here because I fail to see why you have to battle to record these stats.

Wait a minute... You are doing a level 100 battle with level 1 Pokemon, right? Now I understand. You should have been clear about that right from the start.
