Ditto

I just got a challenge to catch a Ditto. Anyone have any tips on this one or is it as simple as having someone trade me one?

Here is a link to a list of Pokémon that could potentially be ditto I honestly would just catch a ton of these and just hope to get lucky

I don't believe trading one works. That quest paused a lot of the local players too. I'll echo Viperizer here - catch ditto-eligible pokemon (apparently if they can be shiny, they can't be ditto any more - so no more zubat, pidgey and rattata)

Keep an eye on research tasks too (The Silph Road has a good, well-updated list: https://thesilphroad.com/research-tasks) – sometimes there are tasks that give Ditto as a reward.

Now I need to find a bunch of Whismur and they are nowhere to be found!

Update for Ditto.

Right now, Ditto can appear as one of the following species:

• Bidoof
• Weedle
• Numel
• Seedot
• Skitty
• Ledyba
• Remoraid
• Hoothoot
• Paras
