Monthly Tournament Discussion

So in order to try and get more battle activity I have been thinking about making a reoccurring tournament schedule.

None of this is set in stone and is open to discussion.

The idea is to let people know ahead of time what would be coming so they could prepare. It would also allow farmers to breed events for the upcoming or next month's tournament.

The ones marked in red I would like to keep as is.


Monthly Tournaments

1. January - Breeder’s Cup - Baby/Hatchling Singles
2. February - Beacon’s Honor - Singles
3. March - Combee Cup - Doubles
4. April -
5. May - Spring Classic - Grass & Fairy Types
6. June -
7. July - Bantam Cup - Little Cup Doubles
8. August - Regional Tournament - Singles
9. September -
10. October - Shenanigans - Ghost, Dark, and Bug Types
11. November -
12. December - Winter Classic - Singles

I am looking to see if the style needs to change or even the names.

The Breeder's Cup would be PokéFarm's creation of 3vs3 level 1 Pokémon, no items, and must have 3 stages of evolution.

Beacon's Honor and the Winter Classic would be the standard 6vs6 singles.

Combee Cup would be a double battle, not the VGC style.

Deluge Meet, Spring Classic, Sun Bowl, and Shenanigans would be single 6vs6 battles with the appropriate types being used.

Little Cup is a double battle with 6vs6 level 5 Pokémon.

Regional Tournament, I removed the Kanto Klassic, Kalos Cup, and Cold Storage tournaments so we could have the Regional Tournament. Your team must have 6 Pokémon from 1 region dex, ie. all Kanto, all Johto, etc.


Thoughts? Questions? Should I just give it up?

I want to make it fun for everyone, not just me and the free time I have for now. I am going to school in August, so until then I have a lot of free time.

Oh darn I forgot to add a Safari tournament.


Do you have any specific tournament type you would be interested in seeing?

Maybe a Fighting-type only tournament? It would seem rather fitting.

I'm also a big fan of Johto, but a tournament for each region would be a tad excessive. So could there be one where each participants can only use Pokemon from a single generation of their choice?

I was thinking about the Regional Tournament again that your team has to be from one region.

Another thought occurred to me. It may not be the best choice to do an all fire tournament considering Stealth Rock exists. Magcargo, Camerupt, Torkoal, and Infernape can all learn it. Torkoal is the only fire-type that can Rapid Spin, and only Fire/Flying Pokemon with a x4 weakness to Rock can Defog.

Instead, how about "Sun, Sea & Sand", where competitors can only use Fire, Water and Ground types?

That would leave everything to Water. It is an idea though.

Maybe just having certain mono tournaments would not be a good fit.
