Tipping and Shinies

Apparently there is a rumor going around that if you tip at restaurants, or photographers, it increases your chance of getting a Shiny. Right now I just tipped at a Le Naw, 1,000 pokedollars. I've hatched 5 Magikarp so far (Jpn Female and American Male) and all 5 were normal. Prior to this I had hatched 83 Magikarp, all normal. There have been individuals who have said that tipping has increased shiny right. Marriland being one of them. Have you experienced this or read about it?

Tipping has not noticeably affected my shiny encounters.

The last few shiny pokemon I have found, I don't recall being in a position to dole out tips during those sessions.
Generally I do tip when given the opportunity, but that isn't very often lately since I mostly start up, hatch/collect a few eggs and check on my berries and occasionally safari hunt.

Tipping most likely doesn't hurt the odds, but don't be surprised if it doesn't help either.

i've read about it too. but did not increase my chances.
i have a feeling tipping increase fashionability in game. there is a clothing store in Lumiose which won't let you in if not trendy enough.
