PokeFarm Forums FAQ

Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.

Board Rules

General Rules

1. Violation of these rules may result in you being banned temporarily. Repeat violations, as well as particularly serious violations, may result in permanent bans.

2. No Commercial Advertising. If you are selling a product or service of any kind, you may not post solicitations on our boards. This includes links in your signature line. Exceptions to this rule may be made on a case-by-case basis for personal, non-commercial sales. If you would like an exception to be made, send a PM to the Site Admin.

3. No Illegal Activity. You may not use our boards for anything that is in violation of U.S. or international law. This includes, but is not limited to software piracy, threats, illegal pornography, the direct posting of copyrighted information or pictures as images, etc. Illegal activity may result in a permanent ban, as well as referral to appropriate law enforcement agencies. Where there is question as to the legality of a post, the laws of the United States apply.

4. These boards are provided by pokefarm.com. All decisions made by HMTKSteve, or the authorized agents (Admins), are final.

Posting Rules

1. No lewd, vulgar or profane content. Some of the types of posts we do not allow include pornography, graphic description of sexual acts, pictures or graphic depictions of agony, excessive vulgarity, etc.

2. Posts that attack individuals overtly, either by name or inference, will not be tolerated.

3. No posting other people's "real world" information without their permission.

4. Leave issues from other boards on those boards.

5. Real Life Politics and Religion are topics that are not allowed. We have found that even in the very rare occasions when these topics can be discussed civilly, they require a great deal of moderator attention. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis if such discussions relate directly to gaming, though this is at the sole discretion of our moderators. Any thread that the moderators decide requires too much moderator attention may be locked.

6. Do not post any libelous or defamatory messages or materials, or links to such materials concerning any other message board. Even if it really is inferior in every way. Not everyone can aspire to our level of greatness, after all.

7. Think before you respond to any post that has violated the posting rules. Send a Private Message to a Moderator instead of replying and making things worse. Responding in kind will make you just as guilty. And you will be looked at in the same manner as the person who started it. Abusing moderators will not be tolerated, however. If you feel a thread needs to be locked, report one post and state your desire that the thread be locked. Reporting every offensive post in a thread will be considered spamming.

8. Messages should be posted in the appropriate category and forum. Moderators reserve the right to move or delete off-topic posts.

9. When posting news stories, post only the first couple of sentences and a link to the rest of the story. Most news stories are copyrighted, and we honor those copyrights.

10. All posts are to be made in the language appropriate to the forum in which the post is made (i.e. English everywhere except the German language areas.) Offending posts will be removed at the discretion of the Moderators. Posts that would not be acceptable in English will not be tolerated in other languages either.

11. Please refrain from thread necromancy without very good cause. (Let dead threads remain so.)

12. Posting an "I'm Leaving" thread will result in a 30 day ban within 24 hours of posting the thread. We do this to help you not make a liar out of yourself ;)

13. Forum Raiding is not allowed. Also known as forum poaching this is the practice of going to an established forum and trying to get members to join your own forum.

Conduct

1. No harassment or personal attacks. We expressly forbid harassment or personal attacks. We likewise forbid exclusionary behavior toward others due to race, religion, gender, creed or sexual orientation. This includes Private Messages and Reputation.

2. Posting as another user with or without that user's permission is strictly prohibited and could result in both posters losing their privilege to post here.

3. Circumventing an existing ban by any user may result in you being permanently banned from this message board. This includes the creation of alternate accounts. No alternate or "multi" account is permitted without the express permission of the Admins.

4. Spamming the boards with large numbers of nonsense posts either manually or by using a program will result in the lost of board posting privileges. Spamming the PM inboxes of others is also not tolerated, and will result in the loss of posting privileges.

5. Posting "I've had it, I'm leaving" threads will result in our making sure you've actually left. If you don't want to play at our table, please don't eat our chips and drink our pop. Seriously. If it's getting to you that much, take a break for awhile. But posting "I'm gone" just causes hard feelings, excess drama and all sorts of discord that could better be spent plotting the demise of PCs or sharing amusing gaming stories. After all, that's why most of us are here.

6. If you absolutely have to criticize us (I can't imagine why!), please stay on topic. Okay, seriously, we welcome constructive criticism. Just remember the "constructive" part and leave off the "personal attack" part.

7. Sites that clearly imitate the name, style, or other aspects of PokeFarm's site and forum should not be discussed or linked to. Posts that do not follow this rule will be removed and the user will be dealt with according to the site rules.

Problem Resolution

The PokeFarm.com Boards have a very simple hierarchy: every area of the boards has a Moderator assigned. Moderators are supervised by the Site Admin.

If you have a problem with a post, please contact the Moderator of that area.

If you have a problem with a member, contact Site Admin

If you have a display problem or the boards are misbehaving, contact the Site Admin.

If you have a problem with a moderator, or the Site Admin, contact the Site Admin.

While PokeFarm.com staff can be contacted about issues, take our word for it when we say that doing so isn't going over our heads to the top. If you know those guys at all, you know they'll look at it for about 2 seconds before passing it off to a moderator or Site Admin, saying "deal with this." So you're just as well off dealing with us directly. And, uh, you really, really, really don't want to bother Steve with board issues. It took us 4 months to clean up from the last "incident." Don't ask.

Comments:

The Administrators and their Moderators have the right to delete any message and/or thread for any reason. There may be NO warning and NO explanation as to why. The moderators use their own discretion and judgment in deleting posts. That means even if it's wrong, it's our right, so long as we think our action is necessary. By registering and logging in, you agree to and have accepted the above rules. Remember, failure to comply to the above rules and policies will lead to only one warning first. If the offending party persists in violating these policies, they will be banned from this message board for a time determined by the Administrators. Please remember, it is a privilege granted to you to post on this board, do not abuse it.
